EU Updates Energy Labeling Requirements for Specific Types of Products

On September 29, 2023, a critical update to the European Union's energy labeling regulations came into force with the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/2048. This regulation, which amends earlier measures, focuses on enhancing the clarity of energy labeling requirements for air conditioners, light sources, and refrigerating appliances, including those designed for direct sales. The regulation, which is now in full effect across all EU Member States, corrects Delegated Regulations (EU) No 626/2011, (EU) 2019/2015, (EU) 2019/2016 and (EU) 2019/2018.

What's New in Energy Labeling?

The document adjusts and enhances the visual guides consumers use to gauge product efficiency, particularly focusing on air conditioning units. Both double duct and single duct air conditioners have received updated labels reflecting their energy efficiency classifications from A+++ (most efficient) to D (less efficient).
